Awards Announced for Strengthening Worcestershire Fund
WCF is delighted to announce that 31 local groups and organisations have been chosen to benefit from the Strengthening Worcestershire Fund which launched in June 2024 in partnership with Worcestershire County Council.
The range of projects funded is extremely broad and includes vital community work around food & fuel poverty and isolation/loneliness, supporting disadvantaged groups including older people, carers, LBGTQ+ groups, children & young people, people with autism, blind/deaf people and refugees.
Funded projects include:
- food provision/cookery classes
- community transport
- social opportunities/activities for young and older people
- befriending services
- helplines
- the recruitment of community workers and volunteers
WCF are thrilled to have been able to achieve this provision of much-needed funding in collaboration with WCC. Our grateful thanks also go to other local donors and match funders who contributed to the Fund ensuring some great projects will be supporting Worcestershire residents in 2025.
Director of WCF Lucy Wells commented: ‘The SW Fund was hugely oversubscribed, with requests for almost £340,000 of funding. This shows just how challenging the need is to support local services that help vulnerable people, provide crisis intervention and even food in our county. These needs will continue, so our ongoing mission is to seek collaborative funding partnerships to help overcome these issues across Worcestershire.’
Successful grantees will receive an average award of c. £6,000 in the New Year; WCF is excited to see how the funding will impact on the varied community groups during the course of 2025 and will report back through case studies and impact reports as the work is rolled out.
