Welland Junior FC: Made by Sport project
Welland Junior FC, a ‘Community Charter Standard Club’, were extremely pleased to have been successful in receiving a ‘ Worcestershire Community Fund’ grant! The demands on local clubs to remain viable during a pandemic have been immense coupled now with the need more than ever to get going again and cater for more and more children in need of safe, structured outdoor sport!
The Club is in no doubt of the stresses endured by families throughout and the need to bring some normality and comradery back in to the lives of children, boys and girls of all ages! The effects on fitness, mental health and wellbeing are there for us all to see and Welland were able to use the grant to ensure football could return and new teams formed like the brand new u11 Colts pictured here during their first game on the 11th September!
This squad was formed over the summer months, all local players, looking to be part of a team! The Club, with the help of Upton Rugby Club and Upton Town Council also managed to create two, new mini-soccer pitch on Upton Sports Fields and increase their pitch capacity for future teams to enjoy, starting this season with u9 and u10s boys and u10s girls mini-soccer teams.. The cost of this, together with new playing kit, footballs and equipment, etc, etc is where the grant has been utilised, making a massive difference to literally hundreds of youngsters.
