St Richard’s Hospice
WCF funds helped to purchase vital IT equipment for our Family Support Team.
During Covid the Family Support team connected with clients via phone and other virtual platforms to help with building resilience and coping whilst grieving or living with a life-threatening diagnosis. They supported bereaved children struggling with social isolation, missing their peers, anxiety about school as well as concerns for family members.
The Social Work and Children and Families team hosted a Christmas party virtually for 12 bereaved families. They enjoyed a quiz, made Christmas cards and Christmas baubles. They then all participated in a treasure hunt to finish off what had been an evening of fun and companionship. Even though we are not able to support our families face to face at the moment, we are able to get people together and provide some support, fun and laughter after what has been such a difficult year for so many people.
Feedback from a parent: “Fantastic Workshop! The kids loved it!! Thank you so much for taking the time to arrange it and entertain the children!”
