Launch of Mental Health Fund for Worcestershire’s young people

A new Mental Health Fund which supports young people in Worcestershire has been launched in response to figures which highlight a rise in young people’s mental health challenges. The new fund, created by the Worcestershire Community Foundation, aims to address the gap in care for young people with low-level mental health conditions who may not currently qualify for any statutory support. It comes as figures show health referrals by schools more than doubled in 2018, with nearly a third being declined treatment or support.

Partnering with 3 delivery organisations in Worcestershire- YSS, Young Solutions and The Forge PRU in Redditch- WCF plans to raise up to £80,000 by Spring 2020 through corporate, trust and individual donations to enable targeted projects which will have a real impact on the challenges of young people’s mental health across the county.

The launch took place at the Charity’s sponsor The Cottage in the Wood Hotel in Malvern, on 10th October- World Mental Health Day.
